I Survived Africa and my Birthday

Hello all,

I promise, I will blog about my recent trip to Africa as soon as I go through all the photos and pick and edit the best ones for the blog posts I have in mind.

I just wanted you all to know that I am back, in good health, and pretty much raring to go (although I have a lot of blog posts to catch up on).

The safari was an out and out success, I would say. I saw way more lions than I ever have, had two sightings of leopards, those elusive wee beasties, and actually managed to see a honey badger in the wild for the first time ever (pitch black at night under spotlights so there is no photo unfortunately). I can have it verified if you want.

I also got the chance to catch up with old friends from Saudi Arabia who live in Johannesburg and spent the day out and about at the local lion park, where I fed a giraffe. They had lived within 20 minutes of the park for most of their lives and had never been. I think they owe me for taking them there.

That’s me and a very comfortable lion cub. He loved getting tickled behind the ear.

Well, that’s it for today. I will continue to edit and select photos and will see you all around. I trust we all got along well and are in fine spirits.

Cheers,

Ger

    • Thank you, Eric. It is good to be back. I’ll catch up with everyone eventually. And the safari blogs will follow.

    • 5 months old was that cub. His paws were already as big as my hands. And my birthday was good. Nothing too ridiculous.

  1. Welcome back and I’m not even remotely jealous of the fact that you pet,er…petted a baby Lion. I mean, it’s cool and all but I’ve spooned at least 13 lion cubs, this week alone :). In all seriousness, I can’t wait to hear about your adventures. Happy belated!
